Silver and gold for the morning in Kyoto

To finish our first week in Japan, the rain poured, but we aimed for silver and gold pavilions, from east to west of Kyoto. Maybe it was not wise to go on a Sunday, but we were hoping the rain would deter some tourists. And so with raincoat and kombini transparent umbrellas, we braved the humidity and climbed the glistening stone stairs and paths to get a view of the Ginkakuji, the silver pavilion.

While roaming the path on these pavilion grounds, I was wondering whether my parents were getting tired of Japanese garden yet. But they each of the gardens were so different in layout and had different viewpoints, out eyes could not get tired of them.

And so we crossed town again while goofing around in the bus and went to see the golden pavilion, Kinkakuji. These are some famous old residence and such an elegant building.

So to warm ourselves up and finish the morning we ate at a Kyoto station. We weren't particularly famished but the meal sets sure opened our appetites.
Mom was not scared yet.

Then this came and oh gosh, there is a bowl of rice that goes with the soba noodles.

Ebi Oyakodon (shrimp and omelet on rice) and noodle soup
